Fashion addict meets upcycling!

Fashion addict meets upcycling!

Hi glamour girls!

During the lecture about ‘UGent 10:10’ we discovered that we can do a lot of things to improve the environment. That’s why I have decided to give you some tips and tricks about ‘upcycling’. What are we waiting for? Let’s get started!

Everybody has waste products. That’s why more and more people get into ‘upcycling’, which is the process of converting waste materials into new products with a higher quality. You can turn nearly anything into something new, but I would love to talk to you about one subject in specific...

You certainly recognize the problem... You have a favourite pair of shoes or a favourite piece of clothing, but it doesn’t look so good anymore. Well, then you can either choose to throw it away or you can update your wardrobe and help to decrease the damaging effects that fashion is having on our beloved planet.

Here you have one of my favourite examples:

Step 1 : Search for your favourite pair of old shoes, some glue and glitter (choose the colour(s) you love!)

Step 2: Put the glue on your pair of shoes

Step 3: Sprinkle the glitter and let it dry

And remember: It isn’t only good for the environment, but it also saves you a lot of money. So be creative and go wild!

Have fun, girls!

Elke

  1. It never occured to me that worn-out shoes can be "updated" so easily! This is something I'll have to keep in mind when I'm on the verge of throwing away another pair of shoes.

  2. Are you actually going to do this? I’m afraid that whenever you walk outside and it starts to rain, your shoes are ruined anyway..

  4. When I have a pair of shoes or clothing in my closet that are collecting dust (because I don't wear them), I organise a closet sale with my friends. I only sell clothes and shoes that I haven't worn(bad bargains) for a maximum price of 15 euros. I think this is an ecological solution to!
