Hey guys,
Travelling to Denmark this year?
Then maybe – and surely
if you think green innovation is important – you should consider staying at the
Crowne Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen. This hotel
offers meal vouchers to guests who produce electricity for the hotel on an
exercise bike attached to a generator.
This way, the hotel wants to emphasise how important green energy and sustainable tourism are. Moreover, they want to get people fit and reduce their carbon footprint. We all know travelling is not really an activity with a low carbon footprint – especially when you travel by plane – but this is a definitely a great way to make a difference, albeit subtly and slightly.

Hi Fien!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI would certainly do this. As you say, it isn't only good for your health, but also for the environment. Moreover, you get a meal for free. I see no disadvantage whatsoever in this idea, so I'm in!
Maybe the Blandijn should do this as well :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes, indeed! It would be a great idea for a UGent10:10 campaign.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHi Fien,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI am certainly a big fan of this concept. It does not only reduce clients ecological footprint, but more importantly it really shows how important green energy and sustainable tourism is. In my opinion, this way of tourism will become more and more important in the future. Moreover it allows this hotel to distinguish itself from others alike.

I immediately told this to my boyfriend! He owns a race bike and rides a lot in his free time, and the coincidence is that he's actually going to Copenhagen this summer! I don't know what the prices for the hotel are, but he would certainly consider to stay there for one or two nights.

Astrid, you can connect your boyfriends bike to your own devices at home. You'd never have to pay electricity bills anymore! :)
