Hello
my fellow ecological bloggers!
Have
you already heard about the latest light design ‘the bucketlight’? If not, it is a pendant lamp that can bring a
positive and green mood to your working environment. Sounds great doesn’t it?
This lamp promotes the worker ‘s health and productivity, since it creates some
kind of ‘living greenery’. The
eco-light is developed by the famous Dutch designer Roderick Vos.
What’s the idea behind the concept?
Well,
potted plants in the office look good, reduce stress and increase productivity, but
unfortunately they can take up a lot of space. That's why designer Roderick Vos decided to create a hanging
pot plant that not only saves on space, but also provides a LED light source
and an overhead charging station. Amazing if you ask me! It is THE perfect way
to brighten up even the smallest MTB-classroom while also adding a touch of green.
How is it made?
The
Bucketlight is made from two, two mm thick, sheets of aluminium. These are
combined with three additional lasers cut parts from the plant and moisture
itself. Each of these
lights is made from cast aluminium, which is covered in a textured green
powder-coating. A LED light is fitted into the base
of each flowerpot, which is fed from a reinforced electrical cable that
also supports the entire structure.
Variation of the bucketlight: the powercube
A variation of the Bucketlight is called the Powercube. It is developed with
power sockets in the objects, enabling them to connect their computers and their
workstations. In this way you can avoid heaps of tangled cords.
What do you guys think of this green design? Hot or not?

I think this could be a great way to enliven boring classrooms or open-plan offices. Like you said, potted plants can take up quite some room and this is the perfect solution to bring some life to the environment!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI personally wouldn't hang them in my living room though, because they don't really fit in with the rest of the furniture.
I was wondering if there is something included in the design to let the plants moisture themselves? It looks a bit cumbersome to water them, if you have to get up a ladder all the time.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenAs a big flower lover, I'm really fond of this concept!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's without a doubt the perfect way to cheep up classrooms (or any other space) with colourful plants! It's also astonishing that this object can moisture the plant itself.
If possible, it would be even more advantageous if you put sweet-smelling flowers in the hanging pot plant in stead of normal plants. Besides its role as a lightning bulb, it could serve as a natural fragrance dispenser at the same time!
I was only wondering if the plants can stand the heat of the lamp?
