Hello
my fellow bloggers!
Today we discuss a topic that's
about something totally different. I assume almost everyone has got a pet? Yes?
Well, the latest trend in petting land is the potbellied pig! I can imagine you
guys thinking: Oh my god. Why should we want to buy a smelly, not cute, potbellied
pig instead of a cute kitten. Well, my dearest eco-friends, first of all these piggy’s
are very sensitive creatures that can be playful, and even almost humorous. And
I might add that in the intelligence scale, they are only two species away from
the intelligence of humans! Who would have thought that!
But what has this pig to do with
the ecological aspect of this blog? Firstly, they can help you with your
compost pile. You can leave all your compost trash with it. The piggy will eat
it all! This means no more mountains of compost in the back of your garden.
That’s all ancient history, thanks to the potbellied pig it can be removed in
an eco-friendly way. On top of that they
aren’t bad lawnmowers either. When they are on pasture they can spread their
manure and urine over the fields fertilizing it as nature evolved. And I’ve
heard from a reliable source, it's good sh*t.
But one advice for the petting
part, as long as you do not expect a pig to be anything other than a pig. A
potbelly can be a great lifetime companion. They are adorable, loving,
affectionate creatures with incredible intelligence. They have grunted their
way into our hearts and my local farmer wouldn’t trade his for anything in the
world.
So what do you guys think? Ready for a new pet?

I would rather pat a chicken, but if this pig should lay eggs... ;)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThey're quite cute when they're little but they don't stay little forever unfortunately. I still prefer my cats over a pig, even though cats aren't really good for anything apart from being cuddly. I have to admit that the cuteness factor has more impact on me than this ecological argument when it comes to animals.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenTotally random remark, but last night I dreamed that I had a huge pig as pet... It was actually very fluffy.
